Calm the fire of inflammation.

Curcumin, the active component of turmeric, is one of the most effective compounds that I have in my Functional Medicine toolkit.

It’s a must-have herb for most situations where inflammation is at the root.

Historically, turmeric has been used for its effect on smooth muscle function and its ability to improve digestion.

More recently, the cell-protecting and immunomodulatory properties of curcumin have become areas of great interest to the scientific community.

Researched Health Benefits*

Research suggests that curcumin can assist in managing a range of conditions related to inflammation in the body including wound-healing, arthritis, anxiety, joint pain, fatigue, allergies, hyperlipidemia and many other auto-immune disorders!

A review of numerous studies confirm how curcumin plays a role in inflammation.

Curcumin supports...

It’s also an important antioxidant compound that fights free radicals throughout the body.

Microbial balance

Curcumin has long been used to support a healthy microbial balance; this historical use has been supported by more recent in vitro studies.

Superior absorption.

Curcumin is naturally poorly absorbed. While the beneficial effects of curcumin are hardly arguable, an area of intense research is how to make curcumin more bioavailable.

Poor absorption in the gastrointestinal (GI) tract, rapid metabolism, and rapid systemic
elimination are characteristics of commercially available curcumin preparations.

While investigating a way to overcome these challenges, scientists discovered they could take advantage of the synergism between the curcuminoids and the sesquiterpenoids (essential oils) naturally present in turmeric.

This discovery resulted in the development of BCM-95—a 100% natural whole turmeric extract composed of 86% curcuminoids curcumin,
demethoxycurcuminoid, and bisdemethoxycurcuminoid) and 7%-9% essential oils.*

Essential oils are a natural component of the turmeric rhizome. Not only do they enhance absorption of curcuminoids, but they also impart health benefits.

The essential oils found in BCM-95 are extracted using double steam distillation.
Essential oils comprise 7% to 9% of turmeric, with 50% of that being ar-turmerone, alpha-turmerone, and beta-turmerone.

Some of the other essential oils present in BCM-95 include ar-curcumene, alpha-curcumene, zingiberene, betasesquiphellandrene, beta-atlantone, and germacrone.*

This natural composition optimizes bioavailability and reflects true turmeric identity to deliver optimal health benefits.
